Hello, all! This subforum was created with the idea that fellow writers and authors on both sexstories.com and the XNXX forums could use it for a variety of reasons, including:

Asking/giving advice
Comments on writing/new emerging authors to watch
Requesting feedback on new stories
Sharing opinions about writing erotica, motivations to keep writing, thoughts on erotica
Self-promotion (all I ask is don't go too crazy with it)
Just a cool place to meet new friends and connections in the erotica writing world
and more!
To get the ball rolling, I'll start. Hi, my name is BashfulScribe and I've been writing on this website for a few years. I know as an emerging author it's hard to get new viewers/gain popularity. If you want me to check out your story, feel free to either message me or tell me about your story here on this forum and why I should check it out, and I'll be glad to. I also welcome any other thoughts and ideas related to erotica writing, and I'm glad to share a space with you all.

Hello, I'm tcs1963 and I've posted a few things here in the story threads. Writing is kind of cathartic to me. Releasing some of my imagination so it doesn't get lost inside my head. I appreciate all views and comments to all my stories, whether bad or good. All I ask is try and remember its my imagination. Hopefully I'll write something good enough to make you say,"Wow" after you have had a nice orgasm. Looking forward to meeting new and erotic people. Thank you.

You know, I like this. We read each others work, but we know nothing about the writer. That being said, I am bigbrother07, or you can call me Jeff. I have been writing erotic stories for close to 7 years. I have posted on several sites, and found XNXX through another writer from one of those sites. Now, I only write here.

Like tcs1963, my stories are a way of putting down my imagination. I am not sure if it is blessing or a curse, but I can see a gif, photo, or hear a statement, and my imagination goes to making a sexual scene in my head. I have written stories in a number of genre, but have found that people enjoy the smuttiest, incest. Although I have never dabbled in it, my imagination has no conscience so I have no problem writing. Just because I write a story does not mean I am into that type of sexual content. I prefer younger/older stories.

I comment on the stories I read. Sometimes I give advice on how the story could have been better. I grieves me to open a thread and see a bunch of words jumbled together with no pronunciation and very little use of the grammar we learned in school. When I make comments, trust me, it is only constructive. I know how hard it is to write a story worth reading, and I hate it when a writer does not get the gratitude deserved.

Okay, I will get off my soap box now. Happy writing everyone.

I too, enjoy writing. Sometimes to clear my head, sometimes the writing just 'flows', and yet, sometimes it takes an hour until I get a paragraph the way I am happy with it.

On my last 3 published stories, I've asked for comments (good or bad) so I can improve my craft. I find that I read and read and read. Usually to find out how better authors work their craft. I've created a "top 10" list of my favorite authors and will refer back to them when I feel my writing is getting stuffy.

I will say that I have developed a list of things that some authors do that annoy the heck out of me. In no particular order: improper use of punctuation, wrong verb tense, poor adjective choice, lousy spelling, no use of quotations or reference of who said what. My final pet peeve would be the ones who write 500-1200 words in one long paragraph. My eyes get tired trying to follow along. Ok, ok, I know "stop your bitching".

One final thought, I've written down the author names of the three that posted above me so I can read your work.

To quote BigBrother07, "Happy writing everyone".

Wonderful to meet you all. :) It's super cool to hear about what makes you all tick and what motivates you and fuels your writing.

In my spare time (which I have less of than I'd like) I'll try to make time to read your stories too.

So, I'm in the middle of writing a story, and I am feeling like my character development is going fine. BUT, I'm having a writers block making the sex scene new and exciting. This just seems strange to me. I'm always expecting the exact opposite. I get so tired of the same old thing suck, suck, spank, fuck, orgasm...blah blah blah...

You could also go the route of adding emotion to the sex. Make it more sensual OR no emotion at all with your primary character just looking for hook-ups but the people the character encounters all want "love" not just sex.
An additional idea would be to add BDSM to the mix. With the BDSM addition, one could spend some time talking about the setup (such as the anticipation, what's going on in their head, what their expectation are, etc) and thus avoiding the "suck, suck, spank, fuck, orgasm...blah, blah, blah"
Look at other topics and maybe do some reading to generate ideas. I'll read some stories of topics that I may not know much about personally to help generate some ideas.
Just some random thoughts........Hope it helps........Paul.

I generally write in the 'observer' style so I am describing the scene so fully understand how it can become 'samey'. To get the emotion and feeling back in I will write a story in the first where I can't rely on descriptions but have to describe my feelings and emotions. When I then switch back to my normal style I find that I now try to convey that in the descriptions and narrative.

you could shake it up by making it the guy that is getting spanked...have the roles reversed so to say....you could also bring in new and kinky things.....whipped cream, chocolate syrup, stuff like that.....draw it out (orgasm denial) or maybe have it just be nothing but foreplay....neither cums but both get closer not to mention when they come back together at a later time in the story you can have the orgasm be more powerful....

I always find that the situation leading up to the sex makes the sex a lot more interesting. One of the old classics of this website, Chris and Christie, mostly handled sex the same way every time in terms of what was done, but the pretenses of the sex made each instance of sex feel unique and fresh. Fun fact, it's also my main story inspiration and a big part of why I started writing.

As Pablo (or Paul) pointed out, adding emotional stakes or even removing them does wonders. If you approach writing sex as what kinks you're writing, then you're inevitably going to eventually get bored writing every kink. But, if you make it character-first, and make the story about who is having the sex and why, that will really make your story shine, to me at least.

Bashful... could you take a look at my series, Creating My Hot Wife? Here’s the reason. I choose to write this more as a narrative of a diary because everything was going to be true, actual experiences, and insights. I’m a much better speaker than a writer and have been encouraged many times after a seminar to put our journey down into a book. Of course if I did that, a radical edit and enlargement would be in order. Here, I’m just playing around with the possibility and experimenting with a voice to it all. Our perspective along the journey was always as marriage counselors...set free. Our experiences covered a very wide range assisted by some most extraordinary mentors. I’ve barely scratched the surface of what we have done. It would take a couple dozen more chapters to begin to cover it all and I’m even considering rewriting everything I’ve done up to this point. Currently, I have an MD friend who wants to be part of a book process because she values the insights we are proposing. I would appreciate your perspective as I ponder that possibility.

Regarding my earlier post about my stories, I guess I should’ve invited any author to critique my them and not just Bashful. I know what I’m writing is more of a niche vs the primary interests on this site. I’m very fine with that. I am playing around with the concept of this becoming a book. I’ve been encouraged to do so for some time as a seminar speaker on the topic of lifestyle and polyamory. I guess one area of interest is whether I should start writing much more as a dialogue between characters and include much more of their thoughts and feelings vs the style I’ve chosen which is more from my narrative. My Dr friend is who is bugging me to do something with this suggesting we move it all to character dialogue. I see advantages both ways.

If you're willing, I would love to read whatever you have currently written. I can also suggest a few different well read authors so you can see the different styles of writing that you are debating.
With writing, be it a well used topic (such as 'threesome') or a niche often you have to ask yourself if you are: 1. trying to tell a story, 2. educate readers on a topic, or 3. find a balance of both educate and tell a story.
Paul.

Thx Paul. That is precisely the issue. Educate vs entertain. We, and I say we because my friend is an excellent writer, would only do the book if education was the primary goal. Ash and I went from exploring sexuality to very deeply living out polyamory and have included some extraordinary people, intimately into our lives. For instance, I’ve lived five yrs with the most darling up and coming politician in our State (even Clinton came down to campaign for her) and after that five yrs with probably the most published lawyer/professor in our State, among others. Ash has lived over ten yrs with a CEO Mensa type IT guy that was my best friend, and through it all we stayed best friends, married and are now back together... but also with several great people living with us. Our life is very entertaining and something we would’ve tradgically missed if not for understanding polyamory. People at the seminars want to know how we navigated all that and what lessons we’ve learned. We’ve got enough stories and insights for several books and my Dr writer friend wants to turn it into a type of Fifty Shades on lifestyle/polyamory. It’s a daunting task and I’d like to play around with it here first. As far as sampling other authors... I’ve done that here for a decade. There are many who are simply superb writers and far beyond my current skill. I’m frankly in awe of their abilities. I’d love to hear about the genesis of their skills and what they have done with their talents beyond the stories on this site.

I'll give you a full account of my take on your stories in a personal message. While I don't intend to be mean, I'm a harsher critic than most and I don't want my feedback to look like this forum is a place for tearing apart other authors. I will say that while I have my personal feelings on the stories, I appreciate that you take a different approach to story writing than most authors, even if the format isn't for everyone.
